Workshop "LoRa and Sigfox: from concept to application"
13-10-2016 :: Heverlee

Organizer: LICT (Leuven Center on Information & Communication Technology)

On behalf of the LoCo project partners DraMCo & Telemic, LICT would like to invite you to the Workshop on "LoRa and Sigfox: from concept to application"

Date: October 13, 2016

Time: 09:30 - 17:00

Location: KU Leuven Dept. Elektrotechniek - ESAT

                 Kasteelpark Arenberg 10, Heverlee

About the event

The day will be split into two large sessions. In the morning we will provide a hands-on session to allow people to get familiar with some common IoT-hardware. The afternoon session will be composed of presentations from well regarded speakers.

The hands-on morning session will focus on two major Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN): LoRa and Sigfox. We will show you how to get started with your own devices and state of the art applications. We will show you how to add a device to the network, configure it, read the messages and create an application. While both LoRa and Sigfox target the IoT-market, they choose to tackle the problem in a very different way. But is the goal they wish to achieve as similar as people believe? While LoRa makes impressive promises related to localization, how would Sigfox deal with this problem? With this session we would also like to highlight some differences which make both of the technologies unique.

The session in the afternoon will be filled with presentations from network providers and system integrators. Topics will range from basic concepts to more technical insights. Speakers will represent both the Sigfox and LoRa network.
