We are looking for a Firmware Engineer for Cochlear s Mechelen based site. Cochlear is the global market leader in implantable hearing solutions for patients with serious hearing loss. As Senior Firmware Engineer, you play a driving role in the design of the system Firmware, together with a global team of engineers (system engineers, DSP engineers, firmware engineers).

You are responsible for:

  • Contributing to and reviewing system requirements, system verification protocols, and system design;
  • Designing and/or reviewing the firmware architecture;
  • Defining and/or reviewing firmware requirements and verification protocols;
  • Implementing, verifying, and documenting firmware components;
  • Reviewing the implementation, verification and documentation of firmware components.

You are the right candidate for this role when

  • you have a scientific degree in Software or Electronics Engineering or equivalent by experience;
  • you have strong knowledge in firmware design and implementation in an embedded environment, as well as using Real-Time Operating Systems;
  • you have proven understanding of electronic circuits and practical experience in handling electronic test equipment;
  • you have a strong interest in medical device development or safety-critical applications and associated quality regulations;
  • you are a pro-active team player, with strong problem solving and cross-functional thinking skills and a passion for technical development;
  • you have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good knowledge of technical English.
