Innovation Manager Collaborative Projects

You will identify and set up new collaborations. 

What you will do


Your main responsibility will be identifying and setting up new collaborations in an open innovation context with both companies and research groups. Additionally, you will be responsible for the acquisition of funded projects for the entire organisation and ensuring  smooth operation. To do so, the following activities are foreseen:

  • Seek and identify new collaborations in an open innovation context.
  • Seek and identify new adequate funding opportunities by:
    monitoring suitable European, national and regional funding schemes
    being present at international brokerage events
  • Write proposals and/or to assist others in writing proposals for funded projects.
  • Advise, coach and assist in managing the running projects.
  • Know the capabilities of the imec teams to the extent that you can see the synergies with other parties to build winning projects.
  • Work in close collaboration with the technical teams to allow a smooth operation of a funded project (where needed organizing project team meetings).
  • Frequent communication with the international project partners.
  • Networking to identify interesting partners for future projects.
You will be located at imec in either Leuven or Gent. You will closely interact with groups at other locations, such as Antwerp and Taiwan. Regular presence at these locations is expected to align and collaborate with your colleagues. Besides that, frequent traveling in Europe is foreseen to hunt for innovation project opportunities and maintain a close relationship with current and prospective project partners, which can be either academic or industrial. These innovation projects are preferably funded through either European (H2020, ESA, ECSEL,....), national (ICON, VLAIO,...) or regional (Interreg,....).

Who you are

You have a PhD degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences, or equivalent through experience. A project management degree is an additional asset.
Experience in the management of funded projects, being involved in all steps from opportunity hunting, consortium building, proposal writing, project execution and closure, is definitely a plus.
You have in-depth knowledge of relevant technologies and markets in which is operating.
  • You have a large personal network in the European industry and academia.
  • You are an excellent networker and communicator with good presentation skills, and ability to work with varied audiences.
  • You have strong analytic skills, you are flexible and result-driven.
  • You are fluent in English. Other languages are an asset.
  • You are willing to travel frequently (10 - 20% of time) mostly in Europe.
